This kit is used for in vitro quantitative detection of myoglobin (MYO) in human serum, plasma or whole blood samples. MYO is a kind of protein existing in myocardium and skeletal muscle cytoplasm. It delivers oxygen to muscle cells and can be used as an oxygen storage bag. The molecular weight of MYO is 17.8kD, so it can quickly enter blood circulation after muscle cells are damaged. Determination of MYO in serum is an important marker for diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), re-infarction and re-injection diagnosis after thrombolytic therapy. The MYO concentration rises about two hours after symptoms occur, so it can be used as an early index for diagnosis of myocardial infarction.
