Alginate dressings are composed of one or more layers: adhesion layer (Glassine release paper), backing layer (polyurethane film and nonwovens or both), adhesive layer (acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive), core coating (calcium alginate fiber) and release layer (Glasin release paper), which are waterproof and block bacteria. Alginate dressings have good absorption and compliance. It has a wide range of applications and can be used for the treatment of a variety of wounds, such as full or partial skin defects containing carrion and necrotic tissue that ooze more. The gel formed after absorbing the exudate will create a good wet environment in the wound area, promoting the autolytic debridement of the wound and the growth of granulation tissue.
