"The kit is intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of β2-microglobulin (β2-MG) in human serum and is mainly used to monitor the function of proximal renal tubules clinically. β2-MG is a small molecule protein synthesized by nucleated cells of the body with a relative molecular weight of 11.8 kDa. Normally, β2-MG can freely pass through the glomerular filtration membrane. It is almost completely reabsorbed when it reaches the proximal renal tubule and is finally completely degraded in the renal tubules, resulting in minimal levels in serum and urine [1]. When renal tubular damage occurs, β2-MG reabsorption in the proximal tubule is affected, resulting in a significant increase of β2-MG in blood and urine. Therefore, it is a sensitive indicator of proximal tubular reabsorption function "
