Additional Description
Cryotherapy : If the progressive cooling of human tissues allows their conservation, very rapid freezing followed by a slow warming causes, on the other hand, their destruction. The principle of cold treatments is to quickly apply a source of cold on lesions to destroy, usually liquid nitrogen, to create a thermal shock. The very rapid lowering of the temperature causes a crystallization of the intracellular water, causing destruction of the membrane and cell structures, and leading to the death of the cell. The progressive warming of the tissue completes this process of cellular destruction. Cryopreservation : The progressive cooling of human tissues allows their conservation. The gradual cooling of human tissue allows them to be frozen. They can then be stored at a very low temperature. Liquid nitrogen, at a temperature of -196 ° C, keeps various tissues frozen. At this very low temperature, all cellular activity is stopped. Liquid nitrogen is used to store different tissues, sperm, blood, bone marrow, ova, and embryos… Beforehand, the tissues must be stored in a cryoprotectant and frozen using a specific technique adapted to each. The tissues are not in direct contact with Nitrogen. These are then intended to be reimplanted to a patient
