Additional Description
This kit is used for in vitro quantitative detection of total thyroxine (TT4) in human serum and (or) plasma. Thyroxine (T4) is generated and secreted by thyroid gland. It is a part of the hypothalamus-hypophysis- thyroid hormone regulation system that can regulate metabolism of the body. T4 is combined by DIT (3,5-diiodotyrosine) dimolecular in the thyroid gland and binds to thyroglobulin to be stored in the thyroid follicle cavity. The body regulates and secrets T4 through TSH as needed. Most T4 (>99%) in the serum exists in the form of binding to protein. The T4 level of serum must be evaluated in consideration of the influence of endogenous or exogenous factors on the concentration of transportprotein in the serum. If changes in the concentration of binding protein (such as the use of estrogen substances, gestation period or nephrotic syndrome) are ignored, thyroid metabolism will be evaluated incorrectly. Clinical detection of T4 can be conducted for diagnosis of hyperthyroidism, diagnosis of primary or secondary hypothyroidism and monitoring of TSH inhibition curative effect.
