Generally, indications for intramedullary nails include simple fractures of long bones; excessively comminuted fractures; spiral, wide, oblique and segmental fractures; nonunion, poly-trauma and multiple fractures; prophylactic nailing of impending pathologic factures; reconstruction following tumor resection and grafting; Pseudoarthrosis, supracondylar fractures; and bone elongation or shortening.
