"The kit is intended for in vitro quantitative determination of non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA) in human serum and is mainly used in the auxiliary diagnosis of hyperlipidemia, coronary heart disease, and atherosclerosis clinically. Free fatty acid, also called non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA), is an intermediate product and a sensitive indicator of fat metabolism in the body [1,2]. Studies have shown that NEFA level is generally higher in young and middle-aged hyperlipidemic populations than in normal groups[3]. Elevated serum NEFA level is the main cause of mitochondrial dysfunction and induced oxidative stress. This process mediates damage to vascular endothelial cells and thus promotes the occurrence and development of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease (CHD)"
