Additional Description
This kit is intended for in vitro quantitative detection of magnesium in human serum. Magnesium along with potassium is a major intracellular cation. Mg2+ is a cofactor of many enzyme systems. Thus, all ATPdependent enzymatic reactions require Mg2+ as a cofactor in the ATPmagnesium complex. Decrease of Mg was mainly related to gastrointestinal loss magnesium, urinary loss and uptake of magnesium deficiency, and then leaded to convulsions, rigidity, hyperreflexia and other symptoms. Decrease of Mg can be caused by hypocalcemia, intravenous therapy, diabetes, alcoholism, dialysis, and pregnancy. Increase of Mg was common in acute or chronic renal failure, hypothyroidism, multiple myeloma, etc.
