"The kit is intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of retinol binding protein (RBP) in human serum and is mainly used in the auxiliary diagnosis of diseases related to liver or renal tubule damage clinically. RBP is a low-molecular-weight protein synthesized and secreted by the liver with a relative molecular weight of only 21 kDa and is a specific transport protein of retinol (VitA). Under normal circumstances, RBP in serum is maintained within a stable range. When the liver is injured by various factors, the synthesis of RBP decreases, and the RBP level in blood drops. This makes RBP capable of reflecting changes in the synthesis and catabolism functions of the liver. When renal diseases are present, RBP is significantly increased in serum and urine due to decreased glomerular filtration rate and impaired renal tubular reabsorption. "
