Being obese is not the same as being overweighed, but rather an unbalanced body composition where fat takes up a relatively greater amount with respect to lean body mass. “Body Composition Analysis” is an important diagnosis for obesity and obesity-related chronic diseases. All the Body Composition Analyzers using BIA including InBody370S measure the volume of the total body water. As it is inversely proportional to impedance, it is feasible to get the volume of the total body water from obtained impedance. Moreover, FFM(Fat Free Mass) in a healthy body always consists of 73.3% water, which is constant for any race of gender. Therefore, with the volume of the total body water known, the amount of FFM can be calculated and by subtracting the calculated amount of FFM from weight, we get the amount of body fat as well.
