Additional Description
This kit is used for in vitro quantitative detection of vitamin B12 (VB12) in human serum and (or) plasma. Vitamin B12 is a generic name of a group of substances called cobalamin. They consist of cyclic tetrapyrrole around a center cobalt atom and the difference is the pendant group connected to the cobalt atom. The foremost form in the serum is mecobalamine and the foremost cell form is 5’ deoxyadenosylcobalamin. Vitamin B12 is a kind of coenzyme that participates in metabolic functions of great significance for normal cell growth and DNA synthesis: 1) Synthesis of methionine, and 2) Conversion of methylmalonyl-coenzyme A to succinyl-coenzyme A. Vitamin B12 deficiency will cause megaloblastic anemia and consequently serious nerve problems. Megaloblastic anemia shows an increase in the cell volume of rapid proliferation in the body, but the quantity will decrease, including bone marrow cell.
