Additional Description
This kit is used for in vitro quantitative detection of estradiol (E2) in human serum and (or) plasma. Estradiol (E2) [17β - estradiol,1,3,5 (10) -estratriene -3,17β -diol] is natural estrogen whose molecular weight is 272.3 Dalton. Most circulating E2 binds to protein. It is estimated that only 1-3% of E3 are free (unbound). For non-pregnant women, E2 is secreted by ovary and corpus luteum. Meanwhile, adrenal gland and men's testis also can secret tiny E2. In the menstrual period, the E2 level is the lowest and enters the early stage of follicle. Then, it rises in the later stage of follicle and reaches the maximum before hLH (human luteinizing hormone) rises and ovulation is caused. When hLH reaches the maximum, the E2 level will decrease before luteal phase rises again. While preparing for oosperm cultivation, the development of endometrium is stimulated by E2 and progesterone (hidden in the corpus luteum). If pregnancy does not occur, E2 secretion and progesterone in the corpus luteum will decrease at the beginning of the menstrual period. The E2 level is helpful for monitoring ovulation. Whereas the E2 level reflects the maturity of follicle, determination of E2 is of great value for analyzing sexual development condition, cause of amenorrhea, sterility and cause of menopause. An abnormal E2 level of men shows feminizing syndrome, such as men's breast development
