This kit is used for in vitro quantitative detection of phosphorylated tau-181 protein(P-TAU-181) in human serum samples. Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a degenerative Disease with progressive development of nervous system. The main pathological features of AD are neuron loss, neurofibrillary tangles (NFT) and senile plaques (SP). Human phosphorylation of tau-181 protein (P-TAU -181) is formed by abnormal hyperphosphorylation of tau protein in the brain, which leads to abnormal winding of microtubule helical filament and formation of NFT. Human β amyloid 1-42(Aβ1-42) is produced by the cleavage of brain precursor amyloid protein through proteolytic pathway. Aβ1-42 is more aggregative and neurotoxic, promoting the increase of SP formation. Aβ promotes phosphorylation of Tau protein, which mediates neurotoxicity of Aβ. Aβ and Tau protein interact with each other to promote the course of AD. The sensitivity and accuracy analysis of the two markers showed that the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of the combined diagnosis were significantly increased compared with the simple diagnosis of P-TAU-181 and Aβ1-42.
