This product is used for quantitative detection of (1-3)-β-D glucan content in human serum. (1-3)- β-D-glucan is a polysaccharide component of the cell wall of many pathogenic fungi (except Zygomycetes and Cryptococcus). It is a unique marker of fungi. When human blood and deep tissues are invaded by fungi, (1-3)-β-D-glucan can be released from fungal cell wall to blood and other body fluids through phagocytosis and digestion of phagocytes. Therefore, (1-3)-β-D glucan test kit can be used for early diagnosis of invasive fungal infection.
