Additional Description
The Proximal Lock and its near identical sibling systems (hereinafter referred to in summary as โProximal Lockโ) are lock mechanisms for prosthetic suspension. They consist of a nylon barbed Tab which, when inserted into the Lock Base interfaces with a spring-loaded pawl preventing its extraction until manually released. The Tab is anchored to a Liner Attachment which is connected to a liner rolled onto the limb of the amputee. The Lock is fastened to a hard prosthetic socket. Once locked the artificial limb is held onto the amputeeโs residual limb via the Tab engaging into the Lock Base on the hard socket. This device is designed to control rotation in the socket and be user-friendly.
