Additional Description
This kit is used for in vitro quantitative detection of pepsinogen (PGⅠ) in human serum and (or) plasma. Pepsinogen is the inactive precursor of pepsin in gastric juice, and human pepsinogen can be divided into two types with different biochemical and immunological activity characteristics: pepsinogen I (PGI) and pepsinogen II (PG II). PG I is secreted by the fundic glands and PG II is secreted by the fundic, cardia, pyloric and Brunner glands. During the atrophy of the fundic gland mucosa, the chief cells that secrete PG I decrease and the pyloric gland cells increase, resulting in a decrease in the ratio of PG I/PG II. Therefore, the ratio of PG I/PG II can be used as an indication of atrophy of the fundic gland mucosa. The detection of PG I and PG II levels in serum by chemical methods, combined with the ratio of PG I and PG I/PG II, can be used to screen for atrophic diseases of the fundic gland mucosa.
