Additional Description
Abnormal DNA methylation modification is closely related to the occurrence and development of cancer. The SDC2 gene encodes an intrinsic membrane protein that is involved in cell division, cell migration, and interstitial interactions. Several studies have compared the methylation modification status of different tissues of colorectal cancer patients, and found that the methylation level of SDC2 gene is significantly different in cancer tissues and adjacent tissues. And the detection rate of SDC2 gene has a significant decreasing trend in cancer tissue, adenoma tissue, polyp tissue and normal tissue, which can be used as an effective marker for colorectal cancer detection. The ADHFE1 gene encodes a transhydrogenase that is involved in intracellular metabolism and other physiological activities. Compared with normal tissues of the large intestine, the ADHFE1 gene has a high methylation level in cancer tissues and advanced adenoma tissues. The methylation level of ADHFE1 gene is significantly different in normal tissues, colorectal cancer tissues and adenoma tissues. ADHFE1 is an ideal marker for colorectal cancer detection. The PPP2R5C gene encodes a regulatory subunit of the PP2A phosphatase, which dephosphorylates and activates TP53 and plays a role in response to DNA damage. PPP2R5C functioned as a tumor suppressor and inhibited colorectal cancer cell proliferation. Hypermethylation of the PPP2R5C gene is closely related to the occurrence and development of colorectal cancer, and can be used as a potential marker for colorectal cancer detection. The data in the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database shows that these three genes also reflect significant differences in the methylation levels of tumor/non-tumor samples, indicating their clinical value in the auxiliary diagnosis of colorectal cancer.
