This kit is used for in vitro quantitative detection of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) in human serum and (or) plasma. Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) is a kind of glycoprotein whose molecular weight is 30kD and that conists of two subunits. β subunit has TSH specific immunogenicity and biological information; α subunit has species specificity and has the same amino acid consequence as α subunit of LH, FSH and hCG. TSH is generated by prehypophyseal specific basophil and secreted rhythmically day and night. TSH released by the hypophysis can centrally regulate the biological activity of thyroid hormones. TSH can stimulate the generation and secretion of thyroid hormones in all phases and has a proliferative effect. TSH determination is the foremost index for diagnosis of thyroid function. Little change in the concentration of FT4 will cause significant change in negative feedback of TSH concentration. Thus, TSH is a very sensitive and specific index for evaluating thyroid function and it is especially applicable to early diagnosis or exclusion of dysfunction caused by central regulation of thyroid gland by hypothalamus and hypophysis.
