This kit is used for in vitro quantitative detection of Anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody(Anti-TPO) in human serum or plasma samples. Thyroid peroxidase (TPO) is a membrane glucose protein expressed only by thyroid cells. This enzyme catalyzes the oxidation of iodide on tyrosine residues in thyroglobulin to produce T3 and T4, and it is one of the most important thyroid antigens. Anti-TPO is the most sensitive test for autoimmune thyroid disease. The highest Anti-TPO levels were observed in Hashimoto's thyroiditis patients. Therefore, the Anti-TPO test is helpful in the diagnosis of thyroid autoimmune disorders and may enable physicians to distinguish thyroid autoimmune disorders from non-autoimmune goiter or hypothyroidism.
