"The kit is intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of the content of prealbumin (PA) in human serum and is mainly used to reflect the extent of liver damage and for nutrition assessment clinically. PA is a plasma protein with important biological activity synthesized by hepatocytes with a relative molecular weight of about 55 kDa. It is involved in the transport of thyroxine in plasma and vitamin A in blood circulation. With a short half-life, it can sensitively reflect the body's nutritional status and liver synthesis function. Malnutrition and liver function damage due to hepatitis and cirrhosis reduce the serum PA level "
