Additional Description
Humidification and heating of inspired air is done by using the moisture and heat in the expired air and capturing this in a polyurethane foam impregnated with a solution of calcium chloride. When the cool and dry air from the respirator passes through the foam the air to be inspired by the patient is humidified and heated.
