Additional Description
Fixation with formaldehyde alters or completely destroys many antigens and epitopes immunoreactivity. The negative effect of formaldehyde fixation can be successfully reversed for some markers with enzymatic digestion, while with others it does not work properly. Digestion of previously deparaffinized and hydrated tissue sections with trypsin enzyme has been found to recover the immunoreactivity of many antigens in fixed tissues.Trypsin (for antigen retrieval) is valid for performing enzymatic digestion in Immunohistochemical and in situ hybridization techniques on tissue sections fixed in buffered formalin and embedded in paraffin.
